AppleJack – Tune-Up Utility for your Mac

14 11 2006

A great troubleshooting utility and repair tool. This new tool called AppleJack will allow you to run some basic checks and do a bit cleanup on your machine without being logged in.

This new tool installs itself into the Unix background of your machine. Then you boot to Single-User mode using Command+S after you hear the chime on boot. This will load a text based interface. Once it completes loading you simply type in a text command and BOOM!!! your done, and it will begin testing and checking your system. After a few minutes it’ll complete and you’ll be back in business. Especially if you tell it to auto restart upon completion. So by the time you have made it to the fridge gotten a snack and a drink, your Mac is back and ready for action.

If you are intimidated by using a command line interface you might want to hold off on this. But if you know someone who can show how to use this tool, it will be a breeze.

So check it out and give your Mac a tune-up!
