This guy has alot right on the money. Though I think more of his frustrations are just being vocal about it, I tend to agree with alot of it. Windows Vista is extremely late in being released with little reasons to why. Except that there has been several roadblocks along the way, with complications in the development and coding and not to mention the drastic turnover of developers the last couple of years both on the Vista team and the Office team. They are saying that a new version of Office will be released for 2007 as well.
It would be extremely difficult for really any corporation to accomplish a project in a reasonable amount of time with such a large turnover of the workforce. I have seen Windows Vista and there are several “improvements” in it, at least of sorts. But most of the changes are “eyecandy”, meaning it is taking a very aqua-esque feel that Mac OS X made popular in it’s first few renditions of the software. The aqua feel for Mac OS X is starting to transtion into and out of a more metallic phase, which I tend to like much better.
Overall it is sad that Vista is taking so long to be produced and I think even more sad that is merely trying to mimic something else instead of coming up with something new and groundbreaking.
